Dr. Rod Zimmerman, affectionately known as “Dr. Z,” is a compassionate general dentist serving the Jacksonville community, guided by a patient-centered philosophy that emphasizes clinical excellence, continuous learning, and genuine care.
Dr. Z earned a B.S. in Biological Science Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine, followed by his D.D.S. from McGill University Faculty of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Florida, a Continuum in Implant Dentistry at the same institution, and advanced sedation training at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey.
With more than 35 years of professional, educational, and clinical experience, Dr. Z is recognized as a “Top Dentist” by Jacksonville Magazine for over 10 consecutive years. Certified as an Invisalign® provider and proficient in Er-YAG laser therapy for hard and soft tissue treatment, he delivers exceptional care across a full spectrum of services—including dental implant placement and restoration, root canal therapy, oral surgery, restorative and prosthetic dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation, cosmetic dentistry, and sleep apnea treatment.
Dr. Z is also licensed in Florida to provide IV, oral, and nitrous oxide sedation, embodying his patient-friendly motto: “We Cater to Cowards.” Patients can feel confident in his skilled, compassionate, and comprehensive approach to modern dentistry.
Beyond the office, Dr. Zimmerman is deeply committed to community service and oral health education. He volunteers with Mission of Mercy, Wildflower Healthcare, Way Free Medical Clinic, Community Health Outreach, Healing Hands, the Jamaican Dental Mission, and Give Kids a Smile, providing free care to those in need. He shares his expertise through interviews with Channel 12 News, local publications, school visits, and the Birth & Parenting Club, and has coached youth baseball with the Julington Creek Baseball Association.
